Oh wow…I’m a Blogger now…

Let me first start off by saying that i really did not mean that to rhyme. Please don’t let this silly coincidence lead you to the joyous conclusion that i will be writing all my posts in a Dr. Seuss ‘cat in a hat’ sort of way, only to be disappointed when my next title isn’t ‘Lets stare at underwear’. Or something…

Anyway, I never really thought i would ever actively join the ‘blogosphere’ as you all call it. Then again, I never thought i would kidnap an editor’s dog; I guess I like to surprise myself. So having decided to join this modern virtual community of quasi intellectuals and incredibly bored people, i decided to do a bit of field research and find out what my neighbors looked like.

As far as i can tell, there are three kinds of Arab blogs:

  1. The extremely political ‘let’s-all-go-to-the-demonstration-tonight-and-stick-it-to-the-man’ kind of people
  2. The disastrously westernized ‘look-we’re-not-all-terrorists’ kind of people
  3. The news breaking ‘I’m-not-aware-that-other-people-read-newspapers-too’ kind of people

Then there are various combinations of the above. Now I’m not attacking these kinds of blogs at all (this is me wussing out of a cyber gang rape), matter of fact I enjoyed reading most of them and there are some really smart Arab bloggers out there. PLUS, i have one leg in number one and another leg firmly in number two. That sounded disgusting, but I think you get what I mean.
So my next step was to start introducing myself to some of those that i found interesting. Some scared the hell out of me and Frank with their critical analysis of our en devour, others were incredibly encouraging, and many did not answer altogether.

So what is my placement within this community then? What am i going to offer that others won’t? What is my niiiiiiiche? Well, this blog is about ‘moments of clarity’ so don’t expect anything else. Interesting ideas about myself and the world as they come to me.

On behalf of me and my stable alter ego, it’s good to be here.

Please don’t cyber-gang-rape me.

Did you enjoy that boys and girls? Then subscribe!

Okay .. so this is probably my first time around the arabian blogosphere, because I’m looking for arab bloggers to join me in this new community blog I’m preparing. So, I came across many arab blogs and just moments before I came here I was thinking of those three categories of arab bloggers! And I’m not very proud but I have to admit that I’m trapped under the second category.

[…] Here are my observations: I came across a blog called Moments of Clarity, which is somewhat new and a quite interesting blog. The author of the blog - whose name I can’t seem to find anywhere on the site - has put Arab bloggers in three categories: […]

Frank’s friend: If I didn’t ever say hi and welcome to the blogosphere, I will gently say it now. :)
