A Pigeon Called Frank OST (what’s YOUR soundtrack?)

Do you ever get the feeling like your life is actually a very very long film and you are the star?? Like there are actually millions of people always watching who laugh when something funny happens to you and cry when sad times are afoot? Do you ever suddenly perform a dramatic monologue when you’re totally alone and imagine people reacting to it? Do you break into your best attempt at an impromptu dance routine whenever you hear a funky beat? No?? Um…ahem…me neither…

BUT this is not going to be a ‘Truman Show’ rip-off kind of post. Actually, what I’m more interested in is this following question:

IF one day Hollywood decides to make a movie about YOUwhat would be on the SoundtracK??

Honestly, when i think about HOW MUCH time out of my life that I’ve thought about this question I can’t help but feel like a freak (yeah, like that’s gonna make me a freak..), because no matter what’s happening in my life there is always a song playing in my head to soundtrack the events and this is how I remember it later. But I actually think it’s a very important question for anyone to ponder, at least for me it’s more important than something trivial like who would play me (a young Denzel Washington, in case you were wondering). Also, the songs you pick to define the stages of your life say so much about yourself that you may not realize, so let’s share this together and get to know each other a bit more…

I’ll begin:

‘A Pigeon Called Frank’ OST (2041)

David Bowie - Sound & Vision

White Stripes- We’re gonna be friends

Radiohead - Paranoid Android

Pink Floyd - Have a Cigar

Iggy Pop - Lust for Life

Faithless - Music Matters (axwel remix)

Wolfmother - Tales

Kings of Leon - Milk

Beta Band - Dry the rain

The Beatles - I am the walrus

Electric Light Orchestra - Turn to Stone

Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah

Tupac Shakur - God Bless the Dead

John Lennon – Love

Your turn! Now I want you ALL to contribute to this one, people. IF you are reading this and don’t write your own list I’ll…pretty much do nothing. But please do, because it’ll paint an interesting picture of our musical tastes and personalities.

ALSO, I need you guys to think about this; don’t just write your current favorites. Think about the songs that best define each phase of your life and mean something to you. Be aware that under the Blogging Communities and Cyber Friendships (BCCF) Act of 2007 I would have legal obligation to actually enforce these soundtracks should a movie actually be made about you after you’re gone…so unless you wanna be rolling around in your grave as  ‘My Humps’  becomes the closing credits to your life, then think about it…

As an extra incentive, the most impressive list will sample some of that medical marijuana I was talking about earlier….if you happen to be in Egypt….tomorrow night….around the downtown area….ahem….

what??? that does NOT count as a cigarette….

Did you enjoy that boys and girls? Then subscribe!

What a great Post. I gotta think about it and get back to you, in fact , I will post about it!
Now this would be a fun tag.

And my humps is most probably the crappiest song of all time.

And no, it does not count as a cig. , it is medicinal.

Divinyl said:

That is TOO tough to commit myself to fully straight away! I may well do as 7aki has said and post my own blog linking to yours after I have thought about it some more! (Although I am quite lazy, so don’t bank on it!). I do know two of the three songs I want played at my funeral, if that helps? Closing credits?

First of the three would/will be Willie Nelson’s version of Across The Borderline…I haven’t decided on the middle one yet (I just know I want three!), but the last one would be Stevie Wonder’s A Place In The Sun.

As for general soundtrack, it would probably go through 60s pop (Where Do You Go To My Lovely/Needles And Pins/Monday Monday etc. etc.) to Elvis/Buddy Holly/Everley Brothers/Beatles/Fats Domino. These are just the order I got into them really. Next might be Guns and Roses and The Cure, then Nirvana and The Lemonheads. Following that, I’m thinking Tori Amos and Belly…oh and The Pixies.

And that only takes us up to about the age of 13/14, and I’m 27 now! I really don’t know how you made such a succint list!

At about the age of 14 my musical exploration (although I had always always loved music) positively exploded…I can summarise that period (above), as I’ve got over a decade’s hindsight…but beyond then?! Possibly Pulp/Blur/Radiohead/Sneaker Pimps etc., then the Levellers…that takes us to 15.

Oh I give up for now…this could’ve been a whole blog post in itself! Lol :O)

Divinyl said:

(I craftily omitted the brief penchant, as a 6 year old, for Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan…well, I wouldn’t want that on the soundtrack!)

And so I said...

my god…you’ve just brought back SOO many memories..Kylie is still rockin it, but i wonder whatever happened to Donovan?

Guys, take all the time you need. This is serious stuff here…

I’ve tried doing this before, all I ended up with is a list of my favourite songs… which doesn’t make a OST, it only makes a… well fav songs list!
I’ll try to give it another shot sometime soon. Meanwhile if you’re interested in learning about my musical taste, you can always check my Last.fm profile http://www.last.fm/user/addoccini (guilty pleasures included!)

I can’t do it…I thought this would be a great idea to steal (with due credit, of course) for my own blog post…all I can do is make sprawling lists of artists that have been important to me. There’s no way I can possibly condense it down to soundtrack length, or even specific songs. There are just too many! You win :o(

I bookmarked this page and I will come back to it when I have the list ready :)
